Senior Structural Design Engineer

Your new companyYou will working for a local council in their design team.

Your new roleIn the role you will completing bridge assessments, inspections and the design of refurbishment schemes.

As part of this role, you should expect to:

* To assist with the collection, assessment and impartment of information that is essential to thesuccessful scheme preparation and implementation process to include liaison with outside bodies andcontractors.* To prepare or assist in the preparation of technical design and contract documents, to ensure theimplementation of structural design projects and improvements within published programmes andbudgets estimates for the purpose of assessment and monitoring.* To liaise with relevant bodies (i.e. contractors, public utilities and the like) to include within design dutiesand programmes, as required.* To work with due regard to Health and Safety of themselves and others at all times. Issues related tosustainability in own working practices and encouraging and influencing others on policies and practicesof equality of opportunities

What you'll need to succeed

• Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers.
• RQF Level 4-7 in relevant Engineering field
• Specific working knowledge in the design and construction of bridges and other highway structures anddesign codes (British Standards, DMRB Standards).
• Experience in the management of bridges and other highway structures projects, and supervision ofconstruction projects.
• Working knowledge of Eurocodes.
• Experienced user of Finite Element and Grillage software packages, e.g. LUSAS and ENCAD
• Experienced in undertaking bridge inspections in accordance with the Inspection Manual for HighwayStructures
