Our Hampshire based client is seeking an Open spaces manager to join their team. Overseeing the Public Open Spaces Area and ensuring customers receive efficient and good quality service. To support Head of Green Spaces in directing and implementing strategy for Public Open Spaces. Budget management and performance management of service and will be responsible for Area Managers, Play Area Inspector, Landscape Team, Tree Nursery, Cemeteries, Pest Control.
Key Accountabilities:
- Overall responsibility for the operational management of staff, resources and delivery of the Public Open Space services against KPIs, ensuring the section operates efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure overall compliance for legislation for Public Open Spaces
- To act as the lead for health and safety within the area of Public Open Spaces
- To ensure all operational policies, procedure are up to date as necessary and revise where needed
- To input into strategy for Public Open Spaces, advising Head of Green Spaces as necessary and making suggestions for development of performance improvement and commercial opportunities where viable
- Oversee financial performance of Public Open Spaces against budgets
- Deputise for the Head of Green Spaces where necessary and represent the Council at business forums both locally and nationally
- Retain an up-to-date professional, local and national knowledge, being aware of internal and external issues (e.g. legislation, policy, environmental) that impact on service delivery
- Provide leadership and mentoring to Operational Manager and Area Managers
- Seeking continuous improvement of service
- Managing member concerns where appropriate
- Writing reports and presenting as necessary on key issues or inputting as required
- Taking the lead on projects as required by the Head of Green Spaces
Knowledge and Skill:-
- Good working knowledge of Neighbourhood/Green Spaces and working practices/methodologies of services within Public Open Spaces
- At least five years within management role within Horticulture/similar
- Proven high level of inter-personal and teamworking skills
- Ability to manage, supervise and motivate staff
- Proven experience in giving presentations and report writing to internal and external organisations.
- Sound financial management and IT skills

Qualifications:-
Recognised professional management qualification or extensive management experience in Horticulture/Waste Cleansing role
