About the Role. The Inclusion Support Service (ISS) Inclusion Team are looking for a positive, enthusiastic person who is able to work in an organised and flexible way to deliver a wide range of tasks. You will join a hardworking, supportive and committed team responsible for the recording of the exclusion processes, and for promoting the inclusion of vulnerable children and young people in schools.

What is the day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide advice to schools and parents/carers on procedures relating to the exclusion process.
  • Support schools to ensure that suitable provision is in place for pupils who may need alternative provision programmes.
  • Collating, monitoring and communicating appropriate data on all exclusions as required.
  • Give appropriate advice in response to enquiries from service users and referring more complex queries on to colleagues.
  • Working with team colleagues, record and monitor exclusion notifications maintaining effective profiling systems to ensure children and young people who are at risk of significant exclusion from school are brought to the attention of the team at daily meetings.
  • Ensure that all processes regarding suspensions and permanent exclusions are carried out effectively by schools in a timely fashion.
  • The ability to support with administrative tasks within other teams - EHE, CME and Attendance as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Competent IT/keyboard and administrative skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and GDPR regulations.
  • The ability to work with sensitivity and humour in a fast paced and often demanding role.
  • Experience of working in a school environment would be an advantage.
  • Highly organised with a professional attitude and enjoy working within a busy team.
