Interim Strategic Commissioner - Children’s

Location: South East, hybrid working

Length: 6 months initially

IR35 Status: Inside

We are currently supporting a local authority client, who is part of a commissioning consortium, to recruit an interim Strategic Commissioner with subject matter expertise in Children’s residential care and independent foster care services.

The interim Strategic Commissioner role will involve:

  • Working directly with the Deputy Director to develop the team’s operating model and set out how they fulfil responsibilities for the consortia, including contract and performance management of the providers on the framework agreement
  • Familiarising themselves with the partnership agreement, and developing clear work plans for the delivery of work and an approach to that work that makes best use of the resources available
  • Facilitating partnership working in relation to commissioning the independent foster care and children’s residential care services
  • Working with, and developing people within the team, ensuring performance and collaboration
  • Supporting permanent recruitment within the team

Experience and skills required for the interim Strategic Commissioner:

  • Subject matter expertise in children’s foster care and residential care services is essential
  • Demonstrable experience operating at Strategic Commissioner/Commissioning Lead level within a local authority
  • Strong staff management and development experience with the ability to create a positive team dynamic, and previously developed an operating model and work plans for different team members
  • Good/strong at relationship management skills, including reputation management
