Key Responsibilities:

  • Crisis Management: Act as the lead for issue resolution, working collaboratively across communication teams, including digital, public affairs, and social media.
  • Strategic Storytelling: Develop and deliver proactive messaging to communicate the corporate vision effectively.
  • Broadcast Coordination: Manage logistics for interviews and filming, ensuring professional execution.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with internal departments (e.g., Marketing, Legal, HR) to align messaging and handle media-related challenges.
  • Advisory Role: Serve as a trusted advisor, providing guidance on media strategy and communications.
  • On-Call Duties: Participate in an out-of-hours rotation to manage urgent media inquiries.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional Background: Demonstrated experience in media relations, public relations, or journalism, with a focus on national or regional news.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with regulated industries, particularly energy, is advantageous but not essential.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to work with senior-level stakeholders and foster effective relationships both internally and externally.
  • Media Savvy: Skilled in managing relationships with journalists and delivering impactful messaging.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional writing and editing abilities, with a knack for simplifying complex topics.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel within the UK on occasion and manage unpredictable schedules.
