If the role was to become permanent, it would pay in the region of £55,000 to £60,000 pro rata.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional to take ownership of the HR function in a growing legal practice. Reporting to the senior partners, you will oversee all aspects of HR operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.

Duties will include:

  • Managing recruitment, including liaising with agencies, interviewing, issuing contracts, and onboarding new staff. Roles will include legal roles such as conveyancing and commercial property as well as role for HQ.
  • Overseeing probationary reviews and annual appraisals.
  • Reviewing and maintaining HR policies and the Staff Handbook.
  • Advising on HR policies, employment law, and best practices.
  • Managing employee records, including absences, performance, and professional development.
  • Handling employee relations matters, including performance management.
  • Supervising Reception and Facilities staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal/regulatory requirements, including SRA and AML rules.
  • Managing training programs and professional accreditations.
  • Conducting internal audits, file reviews, and risk assessments.

About You

You will have previous HR experience within the legal or professional services sector, with a strong understanding of employment law, HR best practices, and regulatory compliance. A background in office management is advantageous. Highly organised and detail-oriented, you will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Empathy, resilience, and professionalism are essential to success in this role.
