Our client, a leading provider of document management and archiving solutions, is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their team in Winsford, Cheshire.

About the Assistant Accountant Role:

This is a wonderful prospect for a dedicated Assistant Accountant to join our client’s bustling Finance department.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintenance of the main clerical functions (AR, AP, Cash, Fixed Assets) including ensuring the relevant ledgers are closed and opened on a timely basis
  • Manage the month end accounting services for any group companies as required by the Group FC. This involves: 1) managing the underlying processes, 2) producing the P&L, balance sheet, cashflow statements; and 3) producing the operations and admin cost statements with commentary on key movements and trends
  • Manage the month-end reconciliations & underlying ledgers, ensuring the general ledger is reconciled accurately
  • Produce month-end and-year end journals to support the management of the Company and meet accounting standards
  • Identify & action areas for process improvement within all areas covered
  • Manage the VAT and Corporation tax cycles
  • Complete payment runs ensuring key suppliers and HMRC are paid on time
  • Ensure adherence to the Company’s system of internal controls, enabling auditors and directors to have confidence that transactions are properly controlled and systematically recorded
  • Directly manage audit questions arising, providing information to auditors on a timely basis & support any further queries arising
  • Provide support and assistance to other departmental members as necessary

About You:

They are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual with a background in accountancy.

  • Educated to O Level/GCSE level
  • Relevant accountancy and ledger experience
  • AAT qualification (or equivalent experience) preferred but not essential
  • Experience across various sectors preferred but not essential
  • Process development experience
