Focus of the role

As the Microbiology Technician, your primary focus will be to support the quality control and research and development efforts by ensuring the safety and efficacy of the medical devices. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of product quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Role Responsibilities

  • To carry out Environmental monitoring of clean rooms and Finger dabs.
  • Receipt and book in Bioburden samples.
  • To carry out Bioburden product testing to support the manufacturing process in a timely manner.
  • To prepare In-house media and diluents.
  • pH testing.
  • Perform sterility/fertility testing on the prepared media.
  • To perform Break Integrity monitoring when required within and outside working hours.
  • To collect water samples and test.
  • Maintain the laboratory housekeeping and wash glassware.
  • Ensure all testing is carried out in line with the laboratory standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure all generated data is trended and stored electronically and contains all the information necessary to allow a true and accurate interpretation of results.
  • To work with and handle class 1 and 2 strains of bacteria aseptically.

Qualification & skills

  • HNC in applied Biology or relevant subject.
  • Previous Microbiology or Laboratory experience is essential.
  • Good Microbiological/Aseptic techniques.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to operate relevant testing instruments.
  • Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, or other word processing and spreadsheet programs
  • Multi-task and prioritise what tasks are always the most important
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility in working hours to meet business needs.
