Quantity Surveyor

Overview

Our client a reputable Building Maintenance company is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join their team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing project costs and ensuring that financial aspects of building maintenance and construction projects are accurately monitored and controlled. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control principles, along with excellent analytical and communication skills.

Duties

Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Monitor project budgets and expenditures, providing regular reports on financial performance.
Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to optimise project costs without compromising quality.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to ensure alignment on financial objectives.
Review and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best possible terms.
Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to projects.
Assist in the preparation of tender documents and evaluate bids from contractors.
Provide advice on procurement strategies and risk management related to costs.

Qualifications

A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience in quantity surveying or cost management within the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of cost control methodologies and practices.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
Proficient in relevant software applications for estimating and project management.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
