About the Role:Panoramic Associates is currently partnering with a public sector client in London to source two experienced Interim Port Health Officers for an initial period of three months (view to extend). This role is crucial in supporting the public health efforts at a major port, ensuring compliance with national and international health, safety, and environmental regulations.
In this role, you will leverage your expertise to undertake critical port health duties, focusing on import controls, regulatory enforcement, and safeguarding public health by managing risks associated with imported goods. Working at the Port, you will be part of a team enforcing food, health, and environmental standards to protect the UK from biosecurity threats and ensure public safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and oversee biosecurity measures for imported products, including Products of Non-Animal Origin, fish, and other regulated goods.
- Conduct inspections, enforce relevant public health, food safety, and environmental legislation, and issue appropriate enforcement notices when necessary.
- Advise stakeholders and liaise with port operators, regulatory bodies, and government agencies to ensure compliance and regulatory awareness.
- Develop and contribute to sampling programs and ensure compliance with all relevant standards and statutory requirements.
- Apply technical knowledge and regulatory expertise in responding to cases, including monitoring and reporting on public health risks.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Health, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
- Professional Certification: EHORB qualified, allowing professional practice as an Environmental Health Officer in the UK.
- Experience: Proven track record as an Environmental Health Practitioner, ideally within a port health or regulatory context.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with food safety controls, environmental health regulations, and enforcement processes within a port or import inspection setting.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to engage, consult, and advise a range of stakeholders effectively.
Contract Details:This role offers an initial contract for 3 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project requirements. The role is deemed inside IR35, offering a day rate of up to £360 (or up to £45.46 per hour on an Umbrella basis for highly experienced candidates).
