I am supporting a public sector organisation in Chelmsford, Essex to recruit for a talented Employment Lawyer. This permanent, full-time role offers a salary of up to £55,000 per annum, along with generous benefits including a Local Government Pension Scheme, 27 days of annual leave, paid volunteer days, and hybrid working options to fit your work-life balance.

As part of a dedicated and high-performing in-house legal team, you'll provide expert legal advice on a broad range of employment law matters, including discrimination claims, unfair dismissal, TUPE, and more. You will play a key role in advising both internal and external public sector clients, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and contributing to impactful decision-making.

What you'll do:

  • Handle contentious and non-contentious employment law cases
  • Advise on matters such as unfair dismissal, discrimination claims, restructures, and settlement agreements
  • Work alongside a supportive team, building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with at least 2 years of post-qualification experience
  • Expertise in employment law matters, including tribunals, disciplinary issues, and TUPE
  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide clear, actionable advice
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work independently
