Senior Bid Writer - Essex

Initally 5 days in the office and then will drop to 4 days in the office , 1 from home

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Bid Writer to join one of the most innovative and fastest growing fire and electrical compliance companies in the South of England.

The company head office is in Chigwell, Essex. It is a leading, accredited service provider with 40 years’ experience of providing Electrical and Fire Compliance services to Housing Associations and Local Authorities across London and the South-East. The company’s growth has risen from c80 employees in 2021 to 300 + today. All tendering is done through public sector procurement routes.

Job Scope:

  • Execute fantastically written proposals for a range of works within the fire and electrical compliance services sector in social housing (public sector procurement)
  • Identifying and re-working existing pre-written content as appropriate
  • Ability to maximise opportunities to win new contracts
  • Coaching and development of junior colleagues
  • Trusted advisor to SMT on all aspects of bid writing and submissions
  • Where necessary researching and advising on new markets to align with business growth plans
  • Lead on and manage tender kick off processes
  • Contracts typically range from £500k revenue per annum and up to £3m per annum and have an average contract length of 5 years

Experience needed:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A real can-do attitude and the ability to take responsibility for all aspects of the tender process
  • Previous experience working within a similar role within an SME contractor business with particular focus on public sector procurement
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to prioritise workload, with good planning & organisational skills
  • Good attention to detail and a genuine care for getting things right
  • Be able to work as part of a small but high-performing bid team
  • A positive problem-solving attitude and the ability to seek out information from the business to inform tender responses
  • Flexible & adaptable
