Senior MI Developer (Insurance Background)

  • Rate: £560 Per Day - Outside IR35
  • Term: 6-12 Months - with extensions
  • Working Arrangement: 1x Week in Essex (Negotiable)

Job Purpose:

The Senior MI Developer will be responsible for enhancing and overseeing data processing within the MI Team, supporting the delivery of key data and reporting functions across the business, and contributing to the maintenance and optimization of the Data Warehouse. The role will involve collaboration with various departments to ensure high standards of data integrity and governance. Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate must have an extensive background within General Insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Integrity & Auditing

  • Ensure all data processing is fully auditable, internally reconcilable, and resource-independent.
  • Oversee team adherence to data governance practices, including maintaining data dictionaries, report registers, demand management, and risk management frameworks.
  • Identify, report, and manage data quality issues, ensuring that the business is informed and remediation progress is tracked.

Business Reporting Support

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to manage reporting demands and maintain the Report Register.
  • Design and implement data models to support evolving business reporting requirements.

Data Warehouse & MI Objectives

  • Support the MI Manager in achieving Data Warehouse and Management Information goals, with a view to increased involvement in team management in the medium to long term.
  • Enhance and expand the Data Warehouse reporting platform using SQL Server tools (e.g., SSIS, stored procedures), and extend capabilities to PowerBI.

Data Governance & Quality

  • Develop data quality metrics to monitor governance and compliance.
  • Ensure data processing within the Data Warehouse aligns with GDPR requirements and is internally and externally reconcilable.

Key Experience

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL Server development, including hands-on experience with stored procedures, SSIS, and PowerBI.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • High level of attention to detail, organizational ability, and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
