Sous Chef - Elegant Hotel, Surrey Countryside - £33,000 per year + Service

About:
Nestled in the beautiful Surrey countryside, the elegant hotel has recently undergone a significant refurbishment, making it a premier venue in the region. With a dedicated 10,000 sq ft ballroom, conference, meeting, and wedding venues, along with well-appointed bedrooms, serviced offices, and a guest gym, catering to a wide variety of guests and events. As part of the continued success, the team are looking for a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join the culinary team.

The role:
As the new Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of our kitchen, ensuring a high standard of food quality and service. You will support the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team and ensure smooth operations, especially during busy services. You will also occasionally assist with banqueting events.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the kitchen team during service to maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.

  • Ensure consistent quality and freshness of all dishes served.

  • Oversee kitchen operations, making sure food safety and hygiene standards are met at all times.

  • Support the Head Chef in menu planning and stock management.

  • Take a proactive role in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff.

  • Ensure the kitchen is well-organised and maintains a positive and productive working environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience as a Sous Chef, established CDP, or in a similar role in a high-quality kitchen.

  • Ideally, experience in a hotel kitchen environment.

  • Passion for fresh, high-quality ingredients and food presentation.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, especially during busy service periods.

  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and team spirit.
