Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join their team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will handle key financial tasks, including bookkeeping up to trial balance, payroll processing, and VAT returns, while also assisting with general accounts administration.

This position offers flexible working hours, with the potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate. Hours will be 8 hours per week initially (4 hours per day)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including bookkeeping tasks up to trial balance.
  • Process payroll efficiently and accurately, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial documents.
  • Perform general accounts administration duties

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping and accounts administration.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures, especially up to trial balance.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems and VAT regulations
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office (Excel). Ideally Xero.
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members.

Desirable:

  • AAT qualification or working towards a similar qualification.
  • Experience in a similar role
