Are you an experienced and highly skilled Social Worker looking to take the next step in your career? Join Surrey’s Assessment Team, where you will play a vital role in assessing the needs of children and families, ensuring timely interventions, and safeguarding children at risk.

About the Role

As an Advanced Social Worker in the Assessment Team, you will be responsible for completing thorough and timely assessments for children referred to social services. You will be the first point of contact in evaluating risk, family dynamics, and support needs, ensuring children receive the right care and protection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out statutory child and family assessments in line with the Children Act 1989.
  • Identify risks and protective factors, making evidence-based recommendations for support, intervention, or further safeguarding action.
  • Work closely with partner agencies, including police, health professionals, and schools, to gather information and coordinate responses.
  • Support and mentor newly qualified and less experienced social workers, providing guidance on complex cases.
  • Attend strategy meetings, case conferences, and court proceedings, ensuring accurate and professional reporting.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with legislation, policies, and best practice guidelines.
About You

? A qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.? Significant experience in children’s social work, particularly in assessment and safeguarding.? Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, thresholds, and statutory frameworks.? Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.? Experience supporting and mentoring social work colleagues is desirable.? A commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families.
