Are you an experienced and dedicated AMHP looking for an opportunity to make a real difference? Surrey’s Frontline & Community Mental Health Teams are seeking a skilled Approved Mental Health Professional to provide expert assessments, crisis interventions, and essential support to adults experiencing mental health crises.

About the Role

As an AMHP, you will play a vital role in mental health crisis intervention, community support, and statutory Mental Health Act assessments. You will work closely with health and social care teams, emergency services, and voluntary organisations to ensure timely and appropriate interventions for individuals experiencing mental health distress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake Mental Health Act (MHA) assessments, ensuring individuals receive the right care and support.
  • Work with individuals in crisis situations, providing timely interventions to prevent hospital admissions where possible.
  • Liaise with NHS mental health services, GPs, emergency services, and community teams to develop the best care pathways.
  • Ensure a rights-based and person-centred approach, empowering individuals to make informed choices about their care.
  • Provide expert guidance, support, and supervision to social workers and other professionals within the team.
  • Contribute to safeguarding investigations and risk management plans for vulnerable adults.
  • Promote community-based interventions and alternatives to hospital admission whenever appropriate.
About You

? A qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.? An Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), with up-to-date accreditation.? Significant experience in adult mental health services, crisis intervention, or community-based mental health support.? Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Care Act 2014.? Excellent decision-making, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills.? Ability to work effectively with multi-agency partners to support individuals in crisis.? A commitment to upholding human rights, dignity, and independence for people with mental health needs.
