The Role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Team Manager to lead a social work team focused on family safeguarding. This role involves developing a strengths-based, multi-disciplinary approach to ensure vulnerable children and young people are protected and supported within their families. You will be responsible for the operational effectiveness of the team, managing workloads, ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines, and driving improvements in service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team delivering high-quality family safeguarding services.
  • Ensure cases are managed safely, and in exceptional circumstances, take direct responsibility for complex cases.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to address issues such as parental mental health, substance misuse, and domestic abuse.
  • Oversee case documentation and ensure all records are in line with practice standards.
  • Build strong relationships with legal services and family courts to support court proceedings.
  • Provide reflective supervision, coaching, and development opportunities for staff.
  • Promote effective communication and collaborative working within the team and across partner agencies.

Requirements

  • Professional qualification in Social Work (CQSW/DipSW) and SWE registration.
  • Extensive experience in safeguarding, risk management, and direct work with children and young people.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and partnership working skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex cases and promote innovative, evidence-based practices.
  • Commitment to driving positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
