Assistant Accountant - About The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager you willassist with the preparation of financial reports, including VAT returns, budgets, month-end reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and foreign currency purchases, while collaborating with other departments to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
Main responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing quarterly VAT returns and submit for review
- Support budget preparation, collaborating with CFO and Finance Manager to ensure timely reporting
- Process intercompany journals and recharges
- Assist in preparing annual accounts for audit
- Reconcile PAYE and pensions monthly balance sheet
- Allocate expenses and credit card transactions
- Analyse monthly repairs and renewals expenditure
- Create and send monthly USD payment schedule to CFO, including exchange rate gains/losses
- Purchase foreign currency and monitor progress of forward exchange contracts
- Prepare month-end payment run, post payments, and send remittances to Finance Assistant
- Assist with month-end tasks, including setting exchange rates, reconciling foreign banks, and updating reports (sales ledger, intercompany, fixed assets, cashflow)
- Review and consolidate quarterly royalty reports
- Prepare monthly and annual ledger reconciliations
- Reconcile supplier statements and payments
The successful Assistant Accountant will have/be:
- A positive and proactive approach, able to work on own initiative
- Strong multitasking and time management skills
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
- Eager to learn and enhance skills through independent work and teamwork
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
- At least two years of experience in an accounting or financial team within an office environment
- Proficient in MS Office, Excel, Outlook, and other Windows-based software
- Relevant accounting or finance qualifications would be an advantage
