Location: Wokingham/Field BasedSalary: £25,000 - £28,000Must be a Driver - Field-Based/Office Based role
Hours: Monday to Friday 8am-4pm
Are you ready to take on a dynamic and rewarding role where no two days are the same? We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Customer Service Officer to join our team. This is your chance to make a real impact on the safety and efficiency of our highways network.
About the Role: As a Customer Service Officer, you will be at the heart of our operations, working closely with our Call Centre Operators and Highway Inspectors. Your main responsibilities will include investigating and managing enquiries about the highway service, ensuring the network is safe and minimising congestion. This role involves daily inspection visits, driving to areas in the company car, including walking, and periods of lone working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend call outs regarding highway issues that are raised by the customer service team.
- Manage and update customer enquiries.
- Communicating with operatives, inspectors, clients, and other organisations.
- Handle enquiries regarding network issues and support supervisors in deploying response teams.
- Coordinate emergency calls and tasks via telephone and internal system.
- Liaise with Highway Authorities to manage traffic impacts.
- Create and update public enquiry records, defects, and works orders.
- Assist in performance management reporting and data collection.
- Supporting with various tasks such as flooding reports and winter maintenance activities.
- Attend local client meetings and support emergency events outside normal working hours.
- Provide cover for Call Centre Operators as needed.
Essential criteria:
- UK Driving Licence
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Self-motivated with a collaborative, ‘can do’ attitude.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Permit schemes and the Traffic Management Act (TMA).
- City and Guilds for Highway Maintenance Inspections.
Key Competencies:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to prioritize tasks during busy periods.
- Attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Self-motivated with a collaborative, ‘can do’ attitude.
