Job Purpose:
To conduct visual, mechanical, and electrical inspections on assemblies and sub-assemblies of the Surelock range of locks, ensuring they meet quality and operational standards.
This role supports our busy assembly department and collation team by ensuring products are fit for purpose before dispatched to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection of Assemblies and Sub-assemblies:
Carry out visual inspections to ensure finishes are of an acceptable standard
Perform operational inspections to confirm proper functionality
Inspect items mechanically and electrically using various fixtures and testing equipment
Follow both written procedures and those taught during training
Focus on Quality Assurance:
Maintain a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to quality throughout inspections
Ensure assemblies are fit for purpose and comply with required specifications
Basic Computer Tasks:
Log route cards into stock and print stock labels
Use shop floor data collection tools, such as scanners
Complete straightforward computer-based tasks (training will be provided)
Understanding Sales and Option Codes:
Familiarise yourself with sales codes for lock configurations and the options code list
Use this knowledge to check assemblies for correct functionality and appearance
Support for the Collation Departments:
Assist in checking full lock packages during first-time builds
Verify that customer orders match the specifications on sales orders and packing lists
Requirements for the role:
Essential skills:
Excellent attention to detail and a focus on quality
Ability to accurately follow both written and verbal instructions
Eagerness to learn about sales and option codes to ensure product understanding
Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems (training will be given)
Desirable Traits:
Ability to work efficiently in a busy assembly environment
A proactive approach to problem-solving and organisation
Computer Skills:
No advanced computer knowledge is required; tasks are simple and training will be provided
Teamwork and Flexibility:
Willingness to assist in other departments when needed
Full training will be provided to this position and will work alongside the current inspector to gain the required knowledge.
Once fully trained and competent in the role, the hourly rate will be reviewed and increased to £14 per hour
