Kenton Black are working with a Food Testing Lab who are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Microbiologist to join their dynamic team in Wolverhampton. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting various microbiological tests to study microorganisms with the objective of understanding their impact on products, humans, and the environment. This role requires a flexible and adaptive individual capable of managing work in an alternating shift pattern.Key Responsibilities of a Microbiologist:- Perform routine and specialised microbiological tests and analyses to detect, identify, and understand microorganisms' nature, behavior, and impact.- Cultivate and maintain microbial cultures, ensuring proper growth, storage, and handling following lab protocols.- Analyse samples from various sources to identify pathogens, determine their resistance to antibiotics, and assess their significance for health and environment.- Collect, prepare, and preserve samples using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination.- Record, interpret, and present data accurately, maintaining detailed reports and laboratory notes.Qualifications of a Microbiologist:- Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with microbiological laboratory techniques.- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.- Comfortable with an alternating shift pattern and working non-standard hours.Shifts:- 4 on, 4 off, weekly shift rotation- 9:30am – 9pm one week. 10:30am to 10pm the next- 2 weeks training program - 11am – 7pm - Monday Friday.
