Technical Sales - Applications Engineer – Scientific InstrumentationLocation: West Midlands/Field-based & some time in the West Midlands office.Salary: £35k-£45k (dep on exp) + company car, laptop, Phone etc + generous bonus scheme (25% - 30%) An exciting new career opportunity for an Applications Engineer / Technical Sales Engineer has arisen within a leading, internationally recognised manufacturer and supplier of bespoke scientific instruments. You will join the growing UK team, based out of the West Midlands office and lab. You will have the opportunity to be a key driver in growing the business area, working alongside a highly respected industry specialist from whom you can learn and develop your skill/knowledgebase even further. You will act as the key technical sales link between customers and the international manufacturers of the instruments. You will work with the customer to solve technical queries, help them to define the precise details of the often-bespoke systems prior to ordering, and subsequently support them throughout the process. Customers are 90% UK based. You will be travelling to customer site 4/5 days a month – most meetings are performed over MS Teams. Applications Engineer / Sales Engineer Job Requirements: The Application Engineer / Technical Sales Engineer will likely have a background in technical sales of bespoke technical products (Scientific Instruments / instrumentations / medical devices / bespoke electronics, etc) or a background working as a technical specialist, or maybe a field service engineer working on bespoke technology, as listed above, looking to push forward into a more customer-facing, sale-based Application Engineer role. - Scientific or Engineering degree (eg BSc, MPhys, etc) in Applied Physics, Electronics or similar.
- Familiarity with scientific instrumentation / medical devices / bespoke electronic systems, etc - preferably with experience of sales in this field.
- Commercial aptitude with the flair and ability to think laterally in a business environment.
- Highly computer literate.
- Personable and presentable, with excellent written and verbal English skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willing to visit customer sites.
Vacancy location: West Midlands based ideally – although an experienced applicant could be remote based with the occasional visit to the West Midlands based office.
