Dunbar Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a well-respected specialist SEN school in Wolverhampton. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for supporting children and young people with complex needs, including Autism and Behavioural challenges. You will work closely with class teachers and other support staff to deliver tailored educational and emotional support to students, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students with SEN, including Autism and Behavioural needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to support each student's unique learning requirements.
  • Use de-escalation techniques and positive behavior support strategies to manage challenging behavior effectively.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external specialists to ensure a consistent approach to each student's learning and well-being.
  • Foster a safe and supportive classroom environment, encouraging students to build confidence and independence.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience working in a similar role, ideally within an SEN school setting.
  • Practical knowledge of supporting children with Autism and Behavioural needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (e.g., CACHE Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are advantageous.
