Job Title: Cost Accountant
Annual Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum + Study Support
Location: Near Woodbridge
Job Type: Full-time/ Permanent - Hybrid can be discussed depending on location
Our client is seeking a Cost Accountant to act as the finance business partner to the Plant Manager and Finance Director, providing essential, accurate, and manufacturing-focused financial support. This role is crucial for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is keen on driving cost reduction and productivity initiatives within the manufacturing sector.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Operate as the primary contact for cost analysis and the creation of the manufacturing budget and costing.
- Drive cost reduction and productivity initiatives, with responsibility to track and validate monthly cost savings for the plant.
- Release purchase requisitions/POs, including financial review for proper account and possible capitalization.
- Review, approve, and coordinate annual evaluation for standard cost on Raw, WIP & FG.
- Participate in the daily management (LDM) meetings on the production floor with the local management team.
- Manage the daily cycle program.
- Present monthly manufacturing results to compare actuals vs budget.
- Participate in countermeasures and help drive plans to meet the plant’s financial commitments.
- Prepare and present the Weekly Flash Report as well as submit the weekly plant scorecard.
- Prepare and process all necessary month-end journal entries.
- Manage and support the plant AFE (Approval for Expenditure) process, gaining approval for capital expenditures and monitoring the project expenses to ensure compliance with guidelines of the approved AFE.
- Ensure internal control and SOX compliance.
- Support the Statutory Audit.
- Keep the Finance Director appropriately updated on key activity, raising issues or obstacles to ensure timely resolution.
- Build close working relationships with defined internal customers to ensure a solid understanding of their business and their needs for financial support.
- Manage and deliver continuous improvement of processes and IT systems in line with the European business strategy and Key Performance Indicators.
- Handle Ad Hoc Reporting as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree in Business Administration or equivalent.
- Part Qualified (ideally CIMA/ACCA) or demonstrate relevant experience.
- Experience operating within a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- Highly numerate with the ability to analyse financial data and provide appropriate commentary.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Experience working within an international organisation is advantageous.
- Good internal consultancy skills with strong influencing abilities.
- Proactive, flexible, and pragmatic approach.
- Ability to operate successfully in a fast-moving environment.
- Knowledge of SAP is desirable
- Business level English proficiency.
