This opportunity has been created within the design management function of a privately owned main contractor with a proven track record of delivering affordable new build residential schemes within London & the South East. Their office is in East London and they operate a hybrid model split between time in the office and on site.
Description
As the Senior Design Manager you will play a key role through all construction activity. You will be involved across client reporting, design coordination, and engagement with the build team. Your key responsibilities will be:
- Managing the design process using commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise
- Leading all client interaction, specifically focused on clear reporting, design programme management, and change control procedures
- Ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards and codes of practice, where appropriate
- Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales
- Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Profile
A successful Senior Design Manager should have:
- An architectural background (ARB/RIBA qualified or Technologist)
- A proven track record of managing design processes for large-scale, RC frame new build residential projects
- Ideally a background within a main contractor environment with responsibility for design fee/budget management, client reporting, and coordination through delivery
- Some previous line management experience
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage varying stakeholders effectively
You must have the right to work in the UK and will be comfortable being based in the office in East London with some travel to sites as required.
Job Offer
- A salary range of £75,000 - £85,000 GBP per annum
