Join Our Dedicated Team at a Specialist Foundation School

Our school is a welcoming, nurturing environment offering day and residential placements for 84 pupils with a range of special educational needs. We are a Foundation Special School focused on supporting pupils who face significant challenges due to social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. The pupils at our school all have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and we provide education for students in Key Stages 2, 3, 4, and 5.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Learning Support Assistant to join our team, helping to support our pupils in overcoming their individual challenges and reaching their full potential. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children or young people who have social, emotional, or mental health difficulties, as well as those with challenging behaviours. Experience in supporting mental health and working with pupils with diverse diagnoses such as Attachment Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder (including Asperger's Syndrome), Dyspraxia, OCD, Specific Learning Difficulties (including Dyslexia), Speech and Language Disorder, and Tourettes Syndrome would be highly valued.

In this role, the Learning Support Assistant will:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils in their academic and social development.
  • Support pupils in managing their emotions and behaviours in the classroom and residential settings.
  • Work closely with a range of multi-professional services to provide holistic care and support to each pupil.
  • Encourage positive interactions and social integration among pupils, fostering a sense of belonging and self-confidence.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Experienced in supporting children or young people with challenging behaviours or mental health issues.
  • Patient, empathetic, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Able to work as part of a team, collaborating with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Committed to promoting the well-being and educational progress of each pupil.
