An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Management Accountant to join a newly formed group that is set to disrupt the retail industry. This role offers the chance to operate in a fast-paced environment, with ample opportunities for growth and expansion as new acquisitions come onboard. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing key management information and analysis, assisting with budget preparation, performance tracking, and working on a wide range of ad-hoc projects.

Responsibilities of the Commercial Managenent Accountant

As a Commercial Management Accountant, your role will be pivotal in driving the success of our client's operations. You will be responsible for daily KPI reporting and analysis, ensuring the integrity of key sales systems, and keeping vital reports updated. Your expertise will be called upon for budget preparation, performance tracking, and providing essential management information. You'll also have the opportunity to work on diverse projects, from building complex Excel models to implementing new systems. Reporting directly to the Commercial Business Partner, you'll play a crucial role in identifying potential issues, challenges, and opportunities at both departmental and industry levels.

  • Daily KPI reporting and analysis for the group
  • Maintaining the integrity of key sales systems including customer and product setup
  • Keeping key reports up-to-date which are fundamental for group decision making
  • Assisting with budget/reforecast preparation and performance tracking
  • Providing key management information and analysis across all areas of the business
  • Working on a wide range of adhoc projects such as building complex models in excel, implementing new systems, capex appraisals, assessing grant opportunities etc.
  • Reporting into the Commercial Business Partner to raise potential issues, challenges and opportunities facing the business at both micro (departmental) and macro (industry) level
  • Assisting with new system implementations
  • Assistance with month end management accounts and reporting, in terms of variance analysis, insight and practical recommendations

What the successful candidate will bring

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA)
  • High level of excel knowledge (comfortable building semi-automated models and using pivot tables)
  • Great problem-solving ability - Being able to understand issues and find solutions efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst managing various stakeholder's expectations
  • Good ability to prioritise and be flexible to change plans in a fast-paced evolving environment
  • Analytical mindset with an inquisitive nature
  • Strive for continuous process improvements
  • Financial accounting experience
  • Commercial acumen, with a strong focus on profitability and GP
