We are recruiting for a large housing provider in the Worcester area. This role offers the opportunity to provide critical financial business partnering to the Operations and Resources directorates. You will be responsible for calculating service charges in line with company policy, overseeing service charge audits, and setting charges for new developments. This role also involves supporting the production of monthly management accounts and ensuring the accuracy of financial statements.

Job Title: Rent & Service Charge Accountant

Location: Worcester area (Hybrid, 2 days in the office per week)

Salary: £40,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calculate annual rent increases and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. Ensure accurate rent and service charge calculations, prepare accounts for audit, and conduct variable service charge reconciliations.
  • Assist with the production of monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and financial forecasts. Support budgetary control through monthly monitoring and review meetings with budget holders.
  • Act as a key contact for rent and service charge queries, providing financial advice to internal stakeholders, and liaise with external auditors as necessary.
  • Complete regulatory returns, prepare stock reports, and maintain cost centre information within the accounting system.

What are they looking for:

  • Working towards a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, or equivalent).
  • Experience in a finance setting, preferably within housing or a similarly regulated environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with experience in service charge calculations.
  • Proficient in Excel and relevant financial software applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse complex data and provide clear financial insights.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
