The successful candidate will focus on fostering partnerships, developing innovative income-generating initiatives, and aligning marketing and communications strategies with business objectives.Role DescriptionThe Director of Business Development & Promotion will lead the implementation of the organisation’s business development strategy, focusing on growth and innovation. They will build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, develop sustainable income streams, and oversee marketing and communications efforts. This role involves working collaboratively to enhance the organisation’s reach and impact. Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of the organisation’s business development strategy, including social enterprise initiatives and new business models.
  • Research and identify partnership opportunities with businesses, statutory agencies, and the voluntary sector to generate income.
  • Develop innovative packages and paid-for services to create sustainable revenue streams.
  • Increase awareness of the organisation’s mission and services through member engagement and public relations efforts.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of an annual calendar of fundraising events.
  • Prepare high-quality submissions and tenders in response to funding and partnership opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with Heads of Service and Managers to ensure smooth transitions after contracts or income have been secured.
  • Attend networking events, conferences, and other industry engagements to identify leads and funding opportunities.
  • Oversee the marketing and communications team to align their efforts with overarching business goals, including digital and traditional platforms.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Marketing and Communications Strategy to support business development and fundraising efforts.
  • Actively participate in the executive leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and organisational development.
  • Provide reports and updates to the Chief Executive, trustees, and funders as required.
 Essential Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in business development, income generation, or a related field, preferably within the [sector].
