PURPOSE OF ROLE Senior Electrical Engineer

The purpose of this job is to be a key part of the engineering team, located at Exsels Worcestershire site, and working on project delivery, service provision and product development.

The job encompasses bidding for, designing, implementing, testing, acceptance and after-sales support of technical solutions for the international Defence, Training & Simulation, and Ballistic Protection market sectors. This job is focussed on the electrical aspects of the projects, but will work within the context of a multi-disciplinary and multi-site engineering team delivering complete solutions to the customer.

Job specific responsibilities

? To advance the goals of the company by producing innovative, exciting, and rigorous designs.

? To translate designs into concise and clear workshop and supplier drawings with consideration of the manufacturing process

? To provide technical expertise to the tender process including the preparation of specifications, costing and plans based on the customer requirements and expectations

? To hold and document regular design reviews

? To lead technical liaison with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure that the customer's requirements are met

? To conduct feasibility studies and engineering assessments

? To approve designs and drawings against specified requirements

? To provide technical support to the operations department

? To mentor others and develop knowledge and skills within the team ? To understand health and safety requirements

? To participate in the performance review process and identify development areas and strengths.

? To participate in continuous professional development

? Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

? Ability to be flexible and work outside core hours on occasion.

? Travel to other Exsel group sites and occasional overseas travel may be required.

? Must be able to work & live in the UK without restrictions & meet UK government security vetting criteria.

? Adhere to all relevant Health and safety procedures and observe safe working practices. All work to be conducted in a safe manner.

? Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to be used when required.

? All tools and equipment are to be cleared away at the end of a task and work area cleared up before the end of working day.

? All hand tools (if used) are to be maintained in a safe useable condition.

? To advise advanced Technician, team leader or line manager of any Health & Safety issues promptly.

? Passionate about Engineering and driven to produce elegant, simple and robust designs based on a strong analytical approach

? Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to communicate and work with people at all levels

? Ability to lead and motivate team members

? Enthusiastic about technology; creative and innovative

? Self-confident and assertive

? Sound judgment and decision-making ability

? Ability to organize and prioritise a number of projects simultaneously

? Ability to understand a customers requirements and to build good relationships

? To be an experienced electrical Engineer, with a degree or equivalent in electrical engineering

? Confident application of electrical engineering fundamentals

? Produce block diagrams and electrical schematics

? Qualified and competent in testing and inspection to City & Guilds 2391-52

? Experience of integrating electrical, and electrical systems

? Skilled in preparing technical reports and presentations for customers

? Experience of working within an ISO 9001 Organization
