Sonic Summary

This role is a leadership position within the finance function, reporting to the Group Financial Controller and engaging with the Group CFO and executive leadership.
The client is a prominent UK-listed business with a revenue close to £2bn and ambitious growth initiatives across various segments.
The successful candidate will lead a team of seven accountants, manage external financial reporting, and oversee relationships with auditors.
Candidates should be ACA-qualified, ideally with Big 4 experience, and possess a proven track record in PLC financial reporting, requiring significant technical accounting expertise.
The role offers a competitive salary and benefits package, alongside a hybrid working model of three days in the office per week, with experience of at least 5 years preferred.

This role sits at the heart of the finance function, reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller and interacting regularly with the Group CFO and executive leadership.

Description

Lead and develop a team of seven accountants, managing workload, performance, and career growth.
Own the external financial reporting process, including interim and full-year reports.
Prepare and present reports to the Audit Committee.
Manage the relationship with external auditors and oversee the statutory accounts process.
Act as a centre of excellence for technical accounting matters, including IFRS 16 and fixed asset reporting.
Drive process and control improvements to enhance financial reporting efficiency.
Support investor relations and capital markets activities.
Develop and maintain group accounting policies.

Profile

ACA-qualified, ideally with Big 4 experience.
Proven track record in a PLC financial reporting environment.
Strong technical accounting expertise with hands-on experience in consolidation tools.
Excellent leadership skills with a focus on team development.
Ability to communicate complex financial matters to senior stakeholders.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to drive continuous improvement.
