Astute's Renewables team is partnering with a renewable energy provider, that specialise in anaerobic digestion and utility scale solar. Together we are recruiting an Operations Manager based in Worcestershire, to manage and supervise the running of the AD plants to maintain optimal production and health & safety.

The Operations Manager role comes with salary up to 65,000, plus bonus and company car or allowance.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the General Manager you will:

  • Manage the onsite operations team, ensuring 24/7 coverage with effective scheduling.
  • Provide coaching and support to develop high-performing teams with succession plans in place, as well as leading and motivating the team to achieve business objectives.
  • Set clear performance objectives aligned with company goals.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, legal requirements, and health & safety regulations.
  • Oversee injection hub operations, from inbound logistics to gas delivery, ensuring compliance.
  • Manage feedstock processes and optimise AD plant performance to meet gas and electricity output targets.
  • Implement and maintain operational and financial controls.
  • Conduct and coordinate site maintenance, including repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance costs, and stock levels.
  • Ensure precise sampling and data collection for digester health monitoring.
  • Maintain sustainability records and compliance with all AD site regulations.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly, monthly, and annual reports.



Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Engineering qualification or time-served in mechanical engineering is desirable.



Personal skills

The Operations Manager role would suit someone who is:

  • Experience working in anaerobic digestion is essential.
  • Knowledgeable of biogas processes, feedstock management, and compliance.
  • Strong maintenance background.
  • Flexibility to support an on-call rota



Salary and benefits of the Operations Manager role

  • Salary between 55,000 - 65,000.
  • Performance based bonus.
  • Monday - Friday,
  • 25 days holiday + 8 days bank holiday
  • Company car or car allowance.
