Job Requirements of this Learning Support Assistant job in Worcester

We are seeking a dedicated learning support assistant to join a team, playing a crucial role in assisting and supporting teaching and learning activities while ensuring the general care, safety, and welfare of pupils. The ideal candidate will work closely with individuals or groups of pupils who may have complex health care and/or learning needs, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the teaching team to contribute to curriculum planning, evaluation, and implementation.
  • Assist in delivering lessons/sessions and engage with both teachers and pupils as required.
  • Implement agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adapting them based on pupil responses.
  • Support and integrate ICT in learning activities to enhance pupils' competence and independence in its use.

Support for Pupils:

  •  As a learning support assistant you will provide support to individuals or groups during independent/group work sessions.
  • Offer occasional support to the whole class for short periods.
  • Aid in developing communication skills and facilitating role-play activities.
  • Foster inclusion and acceptance among all pupils, encouraging cooperation and interaction.
  • Promote independence and self-esteem development.
  • Assist in personal, social, and emotional development.
  • Collaborate in developing and implementing individual education plans/behaviour plans.
  • Utilise specialist skills/knowledge/training to provide support in specific areas.
  • Encourage positive interactions between pupils, especially those working towards behaviour targets.
  • Assist in supervising pupils during enrichment activities off-site, under teacher guidance.
  • Ensure general care, safety, and welfare of pupils, including tasks related to social inclusion and addressing personal, physical, and health care needs.
  • Provide assistance to pupils using the school’s swimming pool.

Support to Teachers:

  • Assist in lesson/activity planning, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Monitor pupil achievements of key objectives and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Contribute to pupil assessment through observation and reporting.
  • Maintain records relevant to assessment and review of pupil progress.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Support the implementation of strategies to manage pupil behaviour.
  • Actively participate in the day-to-day management of the learning environment, including preparation of teaching aids, equipment, and differentiated resources.
  • Undertake routine and non-routine administrative tasks.
  • Liaise with parents/carers, specialist teachers, and other professionals, sharing and providing information in accordance with GDPR regulations.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Hold a recognised and relevant NVQ Level 2 qualification.

Have undergone other appropriate training, preferably leading to national standards at NVQ Level 3, or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, experience, and skills.

Ability to log specific requirements for the role, including qualifications or certificates, relevant experience, and a brief overview of the age group and length of bookings.
