SF Recruitment are currently working with a leading supplier to the manufacturing industry based in Worcestershire; a global business whose products are used by a range of market-leading Manufacturers. The company is seeking a purchasing manager, in what is a newly created role. Reporting into the group procurement director, the role will be responsible for leading the UK procurement team, setting UK procurement strategy as well as leading the UK team.  A fantastic opportunity within a niche, profitable, global business.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee stocking levels in accordance with sales forecasts and the company’s inventory strategy.
  • Develop strategies and negotiate pricing, a key aspect of the role that requires several business trips annually.
  • Manage and develop the UK purchasing function.
  • Address and minimize the impact of shortages through regular coordination with the supply chain and sales teams, ensuring timely product delivery.
  • Address and minimize the impact of overstocking by maintaining consistent communication with the supply chain and ensuring effective product scheduling.
  • Lead and manage the UK Purchasing Team, including Logistics.
  • Formulate purchasing strategies for future needs and ensure their communication and execution across the UK group.
  • Conduct thorough cost analysis to optimize costs and maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
  • Prepare and present reports on purchasing performance for management review.

Skillset Requirements:

  • Proven procurement function management experience within a manufacturing or industrial distribution company.
  • Track record of developing & managing buyers/procurement teams
  • Experience of managing a global supplier base
  • Demonstrable experience of developing procurement strategies for direct spend areas
