We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineerto join our team at our Workington Mill. Joining us on a full-time, permanent basis, in return you will receive a competitive salary and become part of our welcoming team.

Holmen Board & Paper is a Swedish company and a member of the Holmen Group. The Workington Mill produces premium paperboard under the brand Incada. Our paperboard is an integral part of the shopping experience for our clients’ customers. Since 2013 we have powered the mill almost entirely by fossil fuel free energy. Our integrated pulp and paperboard mill is located to the west of the beautiful Lake District in the north of England.

Your future challenge:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for MechanicaI Engineer.  Reporting to the Mechanical Manager, the successful candidate will run and develop the area within budget frames, policies and overall objectives of the Mill. 

You will be responsible for:

  • Be a specialist in discipline
  • Develop/review the technical content of engineering standards for discipline
  • Perform technical aspects of criticality analysis, failure analysis and maintenance strateg
  • Identify investments and major repairs based on CA, FA and MS
  • Support spare part requirements and manage obsolescence
  • Participate in root cause analysis problem-solving
  • Participate in downtime incidents and actions
  • Promote engineering workflows
  • Support work task templates for the quality of work planning and execution
  • Gather data for asset technical characteristics
  • Support contractor control including inductions and competence audits 

The successful Mechanical Engineer will:

  • Be educated to HNC level (or equivalent in a technical discipline) preferred
  • Have a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship
  • Possess an excellent knowledge and competence in maintenance engineering.
  • Have an understanding of failure analysis and maintenance strategy
  • Have a good knowledge of plant processes and equipment
  • Be computer literate with working knowledge of ‘Windows Office’ suite
  • Have a good knowledge of plant management systems
  • Be self-motivated, work on your own initiative
