An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health and Safety Project Manager to join a national consultancy, delivering high-quality HSE services across multiple sectors. With a strong reputation in the industry, this growing organisation is seeking a Health & Safety professional to oversee a key infrastructure project within a food manufacturing facility.

The Role

We are looking for a Health and Safety Project Manager to ensure that a major infrastructure project complies fully with CDM (2015) regulations, as well as food manufacturing safety standards, including HACCP and GMP. You will work closely with contractors, operatives, and senior stakeholders to uphold best practices in health and safety throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the planning and execution of the project, ensuring minimal disruption to production and full compliance with safety regulations.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor safe systems of work, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes.

  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety reviews to proactively identify and mitigate risks.

  • Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions to foster a strong health and safety culture.

  • Coordinate daily site activities, ensuring all tasks are performed safely and to the highest standards.

  • Maintain clear communication with contract managers, operatives, and clients regarding safety performance and risk management.

  • Administer the Construction Phase Plan and promote best practice in operational and safety procedures.

  • Prepare and update essential documentation, including Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and daily site reports.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.

  • Provide early warnings to clients regarding any potential safety or commercial impacts.

What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in health & safety project management within a food manufacturing or process engineering environment.

  • Proven ability to implement and monitor safe systems of work in production settings, particularly for infrastructure upgrade projects.

  • Strong knowledge of CDM (2015), HACCP, GMP, and relevant health and safety legislation.

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) is essential.

  • Current First Aid at Work certification is required.

  • Additional qualifications such as SMSTS or HACCP are desirable.

  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently.
