We are looking for an experienced Legal Assistant/Secretary to join a progressive legal firm in Worthing. The firm is committed to offering an excellent work environment and career development. Key Responsibilities:
- Client Communication: Interact professionally with clients, promptly responding to inquiries and providing updates on case progress.
- Document Preparation: Assist in drafting and proofreading legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and estate planning instruments.
- Case Management: Organize and maintain client files, ensuring documents are accurately filed and easily accessible.
- Meeting Coordination: Schedule and manage appointments and meetings for attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research to support the team in addressing client needs and inquiries.
- Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents with courts and government agencies as required.
- Billing and Invoicing: Accurately record billable hours and expenses, assisting in generating invoices to clients.
- Office Coordination: Work alongside legal support staff to maintain a smooth workflow and ensure exceptional client service.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in legal studies.
- Experience: Proven experience as a legal assistant or in a similar administrative role (experience with private client matters is advantageous).
- Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite and legal case management software.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to show empathy and professionalism in client interactions.
- Organizational Ability: Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Legal Knowledge: Familiarity with private client legal procedures, including estate planning and probate matters.
- Confidentiality: Discretion and ability to handle sensitive information with utmost confidentiality.
- Attitude: A proactive, positive attitude with a passion for delivering exceptional client service.
