SALARY- 40,000 to 55,000 per annum (plus benefits)
Premier Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established company in Worthing, specializing in the design and manufacture of enclosures. This role will involve designing bespoke and standard enclosures for a range of industries, ensuring they meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- A degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience in mechanical design, ideally with enclosures, sheet metal, or precision engineering
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
- Knowledge of materials, sheet metal fabrication, and manufacturing processes
- Experience with designing for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA)
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills for liaising with suppliers and customers
- Designing and developing mechanical enclosures for various applications
- Producing 3D models, technical drawings, and BOMs for production
- Optimizing designs for cost-effective manufacturing and assembly
- Conducting design analysis, prototyping, and validation testing
- Working closely with production and engineering teams to ensure smooth project delivery
- Ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations
- Supporting new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Liaising with customers to understand their technical requirements
