Job Advert: Mental Health Nurse Liaison

Location: Sussex (Hastings / Brighton / Worthing)
Position Type: Ad-hoc (flexible, non-contract bookings)

We are seeking an experienced and confident Mental Health Nurse with a background in Mental Health Liaison. Experience working with older adults is highly desirable.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience as a Registered BAND 6 Mental Health Nurse (NMC registered).

  • At least 1 year of experience within a liaison team, with shift-leading experience preferred.

  • Solid understanding of the Mental Health Act (MHA) and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA).

  • Prior experience in Home Treatment or similar assessment teams is advantageous.

Job Description:

  • Conduct bio-psycho-social assessments for individuals presenting with mental health difficulties, referred from the Emergency Department or medical wards.

  • Manage and assess patients detained under Section 136, brought in by the police.

  • Focus on mental state, risk assessment, and risk management planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform independent assessments and develop robust risk management plans.

  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Communicate findings clearly and accurately to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

  • Demonstrate strong time-management, organizational, and leadership skills.

Rates of Pay:

  • Day (Mon-Fri): 27 per hour

  • Night: 34 per hour

  • Sunday: 38 per hour
