Your new role

  • Identifying and Assessing SEND Needs: Coordinating the identification and assessment of students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Developing Support Plans: Creating and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) for students.
  • Liaising with Staff: Working closely with teachers and support staff to ensure that students' needs are being met in the classroom.
  • Advising and Training Staff: Providing guidance and training to staff on strategies for supporting students with SEND.
  • Monitoring Progress: Tracking the academic and social progress of students with SEND, adjusting support strategies as necessary.
  • Liaising with Parents and Carers: Communicating regularly with parents and carers to update them on their child's progress and addressing concerns.
  • Collaborating with External Agencies: Working with external specialists, such as educational psychologists or speech therapists, to provide additional support.
  • Maintaining Records: Keeping detailed and accurate records of each student's needs, progress, and interventions.
  • Ensuring Legal Compliance: Ensuring that the school complies with statutory requirements, including the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Budget Management: Managing and allocating resources, including teaching assistants and specialised equipment, for students with SEND.
  • Promoting Inclusive Practices: Advocating for an inclusive school environment that supports all students, including those with SEND.
  • Transition Planning: Supporting students with SEND during key transition phases, such as moving between groups of years or preparing for post-school options. These duties help create a supportive learning environment tailored to the needs of all students with SEND.
