Foundations Executive Search is delighted to partner with a leading institution in the Higher Education sector to appoint a Learning Technologist —a key figure in the design, development and delivery of dynamic, digitally enabled teaching and learning experiences.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a strategic role in shaping the digital learning provision across the institution’s online teaching portfolio. Working at the intersection of pedagogy and technology, you’ll collaborate with academic teams to create interactive, impactful, and accessible online learning experiences that support student success.

The Opportunity

As Learning Technologist, you’ll support this establishment's evolving digital teaching strategy—embedding innovation and ensuring quality at every stage of course design and delivery. You’ll lead the creation of e-learning materials, manage digital learning tools, and coordinate collaborative initiatives with internal teams and an external online delivery partner.

This role combines creative problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and hands-on technical expertise—perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-evolving environment and wants to make a real difference to the future of higher education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with academic staff to design and develop pedagogically effective online courses.

  • Lead the implementation and coordination of interactive digital learning projects.

  • Support quality assurance processes across the online teaching portfolio.

  • Provide technical expertise on key platforms such as Canvas, Turnitin, Panopto and related digital tools.

  • Identify and respond to future learning technology needs in collaboration with academic and external partners.

  • Deliver seminars, workshops, and 1:1 training to upskill academic and professional staff in digital capabilities.

  • Contribute to the wider digital strategy through CPD activities, staff conferences, and internal learning events.

  • Maintain awareness of sector developments in VLEs, accessibility, data protection, and learning design best practice.

About You

You’ll bring a thoughtful and proactive approach to digital education, with a strong grasp of learning technology and a commitment to academic excellence. Your ability to build trusted partnerships with academic colleagues will be key, as will your creativity in solving learning design challenges.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience designing, developing, and supporting online learning in a Higher Education context

  • Excellent knowledge of VLEs (especially Canvas), Panopto, Turnitin, and other digital learning tools

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels

  • A passion for digital pedagogy and a track record of delivering impactful learning interventions

  • A collaborative mindset and experience leading or coordinating cross-functional projects
