Shape the future of environmental monitoring as a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer/Lead.

This company designs and manufactures environmental monitoring equipment, used for research and pollution monitoring in water across various industries, such as green shipping, marine science, agriculture and defence.

You will be responsible for allocating and undertaking engineering work across the entire project lifecycle. You will help to develop new business opportunities. You will also support a small team.

Responsibilities:
  • Design authority for all electronic, software and mechanical design activities.
  • Support the Director of Engineering in management of design and development projects by undertaking some project management tasks as well as bid and business development work.
  • Assign tasks to the Mechanical Design team, set project goals, negotiating with vendors and clients, ensuring projects stay within time and budgetary restraints. Mentor the team.

Requirements:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (2.1 or higher) or equivalent with experience working as a mechanical design engineer in a high technology engineering environment.
  • A sound understanding of engineering disciplines (mechanical, electronic, and software understanding) with expertise in mechanical design.
  • Project management skills an ability to plan and allocate budgets and resources.
  • Experience of developing and leading a design team.
