Long - Term teachers are working with a fantastic specilaist college based in Yeovil, who are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching assistant on a full time, permanent basis, as of September.

About the role:

The college supports students aged 16 to 25, all of which have a special educational need, which includes complex learning difficulties, communication difficulties and SEMH. The college's aim is to improve the students quality of life and life after their education by providing a rich curriculum. Their timetable includes life skills, GCSE, work experience opportunities and enrichment activities.

You will be expected to work Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:30am - 4:30pm, 39 weeks a year.

Main Responsibilities

  • Utilising strategies from students’ Positive Behaviour Support Plan, Communication Plan and Sensory Diet to provide support students to engage effectively in learning, whether on-site, in accommodations or in the community.

  • Working closely with Tutors to follow session plans and schemes of work within Education, and reporting on the progress of students to inform future planning.

  • Developing learning resources that are individualised to meet students’ communication needs

  • Liaising with Education, Care and Clinical staff to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting outcomes for students.

  • Supporting students to engage in a range of enrichment activities, including accessing local leisure facilities or day trips across Somerset.
