I am working with a charitable organisation based in York who are looking to recruit a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Finance Assistant to join their small finance team.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of day-to-day processing of accounting transactions across all ledgers and ideally an understanding of compliance with the relevant charity and company regulations.

Proven recent experience in financial management, preparing management accounts and costing/budget information is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable and data entry tasks.
  • Management of aged debt and general credit control.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Conduct regular audits of financial processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Assisting in the pulling together of management accounts information.
  • Bank reconciliations, accruals and prepayments.
  • Posting of quarterly journals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial legislation and best practices.

We would be keen to speak to candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Prior experience working in the charitable sector.
  • Experience of working in an all round accounts role up to trial balance previously.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Be good at building effective and professional relationships to support budget holders with the preparation of costings to support grant and other income streams.
  • Good attention to detail and IT skills are essential
