What you will do:
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day operational matters of the Blood Transfusion section.
- Provide high-quality transfusion and diagnostic services, supporting the detection and analysis of pathological diseases.
- Supervise, train, and develop staff within the department, maintaining professional standards.
- Ensure compliance with UK regulations such as the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations 2005.
- Provide senior BMS laboratory cover and assist in maintaining UKAS accreditation.
- Monitor and trace blood usage, report adverse incidents, and ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice.
- Engage in the planning, prioritisation, and allocation of workloads within your designated section.
- Play a pivotal role in inducting, training, and monitoring the performance of subordinate staff.
- Perform and interpret complex tests and analyses of patient samples.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and ensure proper maintenance and functionality of specialist equipment.
- Participate in research activities, clinical audits, and the review of laboratory procedures.
