We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable People Advisor to join our team on the outskirts of York. This is an exciting opportunity to support our organisation by delivering a broad range of HR services that impact every stage of the employee lifecycle.

People Adviser - You'll work closely with managers and staff, providing expert guidance on recruitment, employment policies, and other HR-related matters, ensuring processes are streamlined and conducted consistently across the organisation.

Description

People Adviser - Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues across the organisation, providing clear advice and support on HR issues and best practices.
  • Take ownership of operational HR tasks, including recruitment, contract management, performance reviews, and absence management.
  • Guide managers through the end-to-end recruitment process, ensuring vacancies are filled efficiently and in line with organisational policies.
  • Maintain and update the People Management Information System, producing regular reports for management as well as ad hoc requests.
  • Provide support in handling employee relations cases, including disciplinary actions and grievances, ensuring procedures are followed appropriately.
  • Work closely with payroll teams to manage employee pay and pension matters.
  • Assist in the review and development of policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Ensure all necessary pre-employment checks, including DBS clearances, are carried out and appropriately recorded.
  • Manage and maintain accurate employee records, contributing to safeguarding and compliance efforts.
  • Assist in projects and initiatives aimed at improving HR operations and supporting organisational objectives.

Profile

People Adviser - Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Good understanding of HR processes, employment law
  • Proven ability to manage and support recruitment processes
  • Experience handling employee relations cases
  • Experience with iTrent
  • High level of attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work
