We are working with a manufacturing business in the York area who have a newly created HR Advisor role within their people team. We are looking for someone who can come in and  deliver high-quality advice, guidance, and administrative support across a range of People and HR activities.
What the HR Advisor job involves
- Supporting and advising department managers on employee absence and return-to-work procedures as well as sensitive employee relations cases from a legal and best practice perspective.
- Track sickness absence trends and support the introduction of measures to reduce absenteeism, along with looking at ways to improve employee attendance. Â
- Track data and reports to maintain accurate employee relations cases. (including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and performance issues).
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment processes by keeping relevant interview guides and candidate selection forms up to date
- Coordinate an engaging onboarding process for new starters
- Advise and support on the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures in line with current UK employment legislation.
- Ensure all policies are up to date and in line with best practice and legal requirements.
- Maintain all data and record keeping in relation to Training and Development of employees
- Assist with HR reporting, including tracking key HR metrics such as turnover, absence, and recruitment progress.
Skills required
- An understanding of HR information systems (HRIS), Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced excel skills, and other HR software tools.
- We are looking for someone who has proven experience as a HR Advisor or in a similar HR role with a good working knowledge of UK employment law, HR best practices, and current HR trends.
- CIPD level 5 qualification / working to this level as a minimum if no qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Able to identify trends around workforce data. Using Excel to analyse.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Previous experience of working within manufacturing/ Engineering / Distribution / retail or other relevant industry sectors.
