This position is vital in providing focused assistance to students with behavioural challenges, enabling them to thrive both academically and socially. This role is ideal for someone who is dedicated to supporting students in overcoming behavioural challenges and achieving their full potential.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in providing targeted support to students with behavioural difficulties, helping them to develop positive attitudes and behaviours towards learning and social interaction. Your work will be vital in creating a supportive and inclusive school environment.
Behaviour Support Mentor Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the pastoral team to support students with behavioural challenges.
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students with behavioural challenges, helping them to manage their behaviour and engage effectively in classroom activities.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions tailored to the individual needs of students.
- Assist teachers in developing and maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Monitor and record student behaviour, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents and relevant professionals.
- Support the development and implementation of Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs) and personalised support strategies.
- Foster a positive and supportive relationship with students, encouraging their social and emotional development.
- Collaborate with the wider school team to promote a consistent approach to behaviour management.
Behaviour Support Mentor Job Requirements:
- Proven experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting, particularly those with behavioural difficulties.
- Have profound knowledge of SEND and behaviour management strategies and effective techniques to support students with challenging behaviour.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and families.
- Patience, empathy and a commitment to providing high-quality support to students with diverse needs.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach.
