This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional looking for a rewarding and challenging role in a secure environment.Role Overview:As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Plumber), you will play a key role in ensuring the plumbing and mechanical systems at HMP Full Sutton are maintained to the highest standards. You will be responsible for both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs, ensuring that the site's heating, water supply, drainage, and other mechanical systems function efficiently and safely. This role requires someone with technical expertise, a proactive approach, and a commitment to safety and compliance.Key Responsibilities:

  • Plumbing Maintenance: Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on all plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, toilets, taps, showers, and more.
  • Heating Systems: Maintain and repair heating systems, including boilers, radiators, and associated controls.
  • Fault Diagnosis & Repairs: Identify and resolve faults with mechanical systems promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform regular checks and preventative maintenance on mechanical and plumbing systems to extend their lifespan and reduce breakdowns.
  • On-Call: Participate in the on-call rota, available for emergency repairs outside of standard working hours.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers and facilities teams to ensure effective service delivery and system reliability.
  • Customer Communication: Communicate effectively with site managers and staff to ensure work is completed with minimal disruption.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience in plumbing and mechanical maintenance, ideally within commercial, industrial, or secure environments.
  • Qualifications:
    • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering.
    • Relevant plumbing certifications (e.g., Gas Safe, if applicable).
    • Experience with heating and hot water systems is essential.
    • Full UK driving licence.
  • Skills: Excellent fault-finding abilities, strong problem-solving skills, good communication, and a proactive approach to work.
  • Health & Safety: A strong understanding of health and safety practices and the ability to work safely and efficiently.
  • Security: Experience working in a secure environment, or the willingness to undergo background checks, is desirable.
